Cultural Courses option

Study Martial Arts while learning about Chinese culture, language and history! SCIC Beijing provides opportunities for all martial arts students to study any aspect of Chinese culture they choose (including Chinese Language, Chinese Medicine, Calligraphy, Cooking, Musical Instruments etc).

These courses are available in combination with Martial Arts courses. They are taught mostly in Chinese with an English interpreter provided. Transportation is provided to SCIC Cultural Centre from host universities and schools.

Location: SCIC Cultural Center / at host schools
Timetable: 4 or 6 classes per week / Monday - Friday (Afternoon)


Chinese Language Course

Study Chinese Martial Arts (Tai Chi, Wushu and Kung Fu) while learning how to speak Chinese! Students will learn and improve their language skills (Mandarin) both in oral speaking and Chinese character writing through class instruction in host universities or in SCICs Culture Centre. Our Chinese language classes focus on developing oral expression, listening and reading comprehension, writing, and grammar. Traditional Chinese Medicine

TCM courses combine classes, workshops and opportunities for practice and are taught by famous professors and doctors from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.  This course covers a wide range of topics associated with Traditional Chinese Medicine, from theory and history to modern-day methods. This is the ideal starting-point for anyone embarking on a study of TCM.  More Info >>


Calligraphy and Brush Painting


Chinese calligraphy and brush-painting are renowned for their unique style and are regarded as two of the most abstract and sublime forms of Chinese art. SCIC Beijings Calligraphy and Brush Painting course lets students learn basic character styles and obtain a general knowledge of both Chinese calligraphy and brush painting.  More Info >>


Chinese Cooking


Learn how to cook Chinese food! Chinese food is justifiably famous for its diversity, concoctions and regional variations in cooking styles. Based on the principles of healthy harmony, Chinese dishes are produced with 'balanced' textures, colours and tastes. Chinese music is celebrated for its gentle and elegant sounds and traditional playing style. Our Musical Instrument course gives students the opportunity to experience the highly distinctive rhythms (beat, tone quality) of Chinese music, acquire a general knowledge of Chinese music, and enjoy in the practice of traditional musical instruments.  More Info >>

This course is ideal for students wanting a broad introduction to all aspects of Chinese culture with hands-on experience. Instead of focusing on one particular thing students have a complete experience of Chinese culture.
